Unable to perform switchover post power event

Issue

  • One of the nodes in a 2 node, Stretch MetroCluster experiences a power failure.
  • The other node that is carrying out the switchover panics during the switchover operation and an error message is displayed.
    • Example:

PANIC: Msg execution failed during replay, vol=example_vol, msg=0xfffff70082f894a0, type=WAFL_SPINNP_WAFFI_PUNCH_HOLES, errno=45, replay_idx=383, coalesced=0 coalesced_cnt=0 in SK process ReplayThr_03 on release 9.8P4 (C) on Wed Jul 21 07:11:36 CEST 2021

  • MetroCluster switchover to the other site fails, possibly resulting in a data outage.
  • An error message is observed in the output of metrocluster operation history show.
    • Example:

Failed to execute the switchover operation for the node components.

Node01 (fatal): None of the nodes were able to complete the switchover operation;
aborting the operation for cluster components
