Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • MetroCluster IP

Issue

  • Repeating MccIp_PortOfflineAlert autosupports are received:
[ClusterA-01: mgwd: callhome.hm.alert.major:alert]: Call home for Health Monitor process nchm: MccIp_PortOfflineAlert[ClusterA_t6nex0_e1a-10].
  • In some cases, the port mentioned in the above log is found to be flapping very frequently:

[ClusterA-01: kernel: intr: netif.linkDown:info]: Ethernet e1a: Link up.
[ClusterA-01: kernel: intr: netif.linkUp:info]: Ethernet e1a: Link down, check cable.

[ClusterA-01: kernel: intr: netif.linkDown:info]: Ethernet e1a: Link up.
[ClusterA-01: kernel: intr: netif.linkUp:info]: Ethernet e1a: Link down, check cable.

  • If the affected port is an HA interconnect port, then failover is subsequently disabled and enabled as shown below:

[ClusterA-01: cf_main: cf.fsm.takeoverByPartnerDisabled:error]: Failover monitor: takeover of ClusterA-01 by ClusterA-02 disabled (unsynchronized log).
[ClusterA-01: cf_main: cf.fsm.takeoverOfPartnerEnabled:notice]: Failover monitor: takeover of ClusterA-02 enabled

[ClusterA-02: cf_main: cf.fsm.takeoverOfPartnerDisabled:error]: Failover monitor: takeover of ClusterA-02 by ClusterA-01 disabled (unsynchronized log).
[ClusterA-02: cf_main: cf.fsm.takeoverOfPartnerEnabled:notice]: Failover monitor: takeover of ClusterA-01 enabled
