Brocade switch boot loop during upgrade

  • Brocade G620 switch
  • Fabric-Attached MetroCluster
  • FOS upgrade from v8.2.1c to v9.0.1a

Issue

Upon rebooting the switch to upgrade to FOS v9.0.1a, the switch gets stuck in a boot loop.

Error messages are visible on the switch console.

Examples:

  • 2021/06/11-06:09:08, [HAM-1004], 1645, CHASSIS, INFO, BrocadeG620, Processor rebooted - Software Fault: Watchdog Timeout.
  • 2021/06/11-06:18:37, [HAM-1014], 54, CHASSIS, CRITICAL, BrocadeG620, Can't Restart: Restartable daemon (weblinker (pid=2313)) died during system bootup. Reboot.
  • reset reason was 0x00000002: CPU request
