No, AltaVault is designed to function as a local interface to your cloud provider and cannot act as standalone Network Attached Storage (NAS)

Additional Information

  • Appliance functions include but are not limited to:
    • local caching
    • encryption
    • deduplication
    • local network access by certain NAS protocols, including NFS and CIFS/SMB.
  • Without a valid and reachable cloud bucket, the service cannot start and appliance functionality is limited. 
  • Limitations include:
    • Cannot store or access data via NAS protocols.
