Issue

Various sensor-related alerts can be generated on Element storage nodes as a result of issues with the node's underlying Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) and/or the internal hardware components (fans, power supplies, etc) that the BMC manages.

These include:

Error Code Error Details Node Component
fanSensor

FanXX RPM is failed or missing

Chassis Fans
sensorReadingFailed

The associated impacts of the various sensor alerts range from none (false positive alerts at particular Element versions and node types) to impacting node an cluster performance.

Use this article to determine and pursue the troubleshooting path for the particular collection of alerts on the cluster in question.
