Unable to offline or delete a temporary volume created during a "Volume Move" operation

Issue

  • An offline or delete operation on a temporary volume fails with the following error:

::> volume offline -vserver <vserver_name> -volume <temp_vol_name>
vol offline: Error offlining volume "<vserver_name>:<temp_vol_name>". Unable to set volume attributes for volume "<temp_vol_name>" on Vserver "<vserver_name>". Reason: Volume move in progress.

  • The force offline process also fails and reports the following error message:

::> volume offline -vserver nas01 -volume <temp_vol_name> -force true
vol offline: Error offlining volume "<vserver_name>:<temp_vol_name>". Unable to set volume attributes for volume "<temp_vol_name>" on Vserver "<vserver_name>". Reason: Volume move in progress.
