ESXi hosts may lose connection to LUNs after MetroCluster switchover/switchback due to Cisco flogi settings

Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • Cisco SAN switches
  • NX-OS 8.1 and later

Issue

  • When doing a MetroCluster switchover or switchback, hosts may lose connection to LUNs
  • ESXi hosts accessing boot LUNs may need to be rebooted to recover LUN access
  • Otherwise it may be necessary to disable and reenable the switch ports the LIFs log in to
