Question(s) and Answer(s)

Can different shelves and IOM modules be mixed in the same stack in a MetroCluster?

Each SAS port in an ATTO 7500N or 7600N FibreBridge is considered a seperate stack.

IOM12 and IOM6 can be mixed in the same stack if the ONTAP version supports shelf mixing and dedicated IOM12 and IOM6 stacks can be created.

MetroCluster supports a mix of supported shelves in a single storage stack. The shelf models currently allowed to be mixed in a stack are DS2246, DS4243, and DS4246, with only one transition between IOM3 and IOM6. (Check in Hardware Universe for supported modules in an ONTAP release).
