What kind of caching type is supported by NVMe
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- Flash Cache NVMe
Answer
NVMe is read cache and supports ‘read-only’ caching type.
Additional Information
- How it works:
- Initial read request for data that is not in memory or cache is retrieved from the disk.
- Data inserted into controller memory, buffers, and is then sent to the requestor.
- Data block is copied into Flash cache before it is released from the memory.
- Another read request for same data block, while it is in cache, the block is copied into memory and sent to the requestor.
