  • Ping to gateway fails from an administratively up LIF.

cluster1::> network interface show -vserver svm1
            Logical    Status     Network            Current       Current Is
Vserver     Interface  Admin/Oper Address/Mask       Node          Port    Home
----------- ---------- ---------- ------------------ ------------- ------- ----
svm1
            lif1       up/up      10.xx.xx.10/24     node-1        e0c     true

cluster1::> network route show -vserver svm1
Vserver             Destination     Gateway         Metric
------------------- --------------- --------------- ------
svm1
                    0.0.0.0/0       10.xx.xx.1      10

cluster::> network ping -lif lif1 -vserver svm1 -destination 10.xx.xx.10
no answer from 10.xx.xx.1

  • Issue persists after bouncing the LIF and the port.
  • Packet trace shows that the port does not send any ARP requests on pinging.
  • Issue persists even after the cable reseat.
  • The ping is successful when the LIF is migrated to some other port.
