FAS9000 or AFF A700 boots successfully or unsuccessfully with unsupported NVRAM DIMM messages

Issue

  • Either node boots up successfully but with the following message:

[nvram.hw.initFail:CRITICAL]: NVRAM hardware initialization failed: DIMM0 has unsupported 2 rank DIMM 32 GB. Replace the NV-DIMM.

  • Or node fails to boot and halts at LOADER prompt with following message:

[nvram.hw.initFail:CRITICAL]: NVRAM hardware initialization failed: DIMM0 has unsupported 2 rank DIMM 32 GB. Replace the NV-DIMM.
[localhost:nv.none:EMERGENCY]: No NV device has been detected.
