A high amount of CFM broadcast packets (CCM) are sent out all at once from port when the link is up

  • Intel network interface card (NIC) devices (X1117A, X1120A, X91120A, X1149A, X1170A and Broadwell-DE based systems)
  • Continuity Check Message (CCM)


  • Adding new ports to ifgrp and upon cabling the new ports, there is a storm of CFM broadcast packets (CCM) from newly added ports.
  • This made the switch to bring down ports if storm-control broadcast threshold is enabled in switch.
