ANDU paused due to Autoboot the image failed. File system not recognized (-29)

Issue

An ANDU operation pauses with a message similar to:

Status: Paused - An error occurred in "Data ONTAP updates" phase. The update cannot continue until the error has been 
                 resolved. Resolve all issues, then use the "cluster image resume-update" command to resume the update

From the SP logs of the affected node, a failure to boot the new default image is seen:
