What does the tape error code ha_status 0x9 mean?

Answer

  • Backups occasionally fail and the following message is displayed in the event logs
[tape.cmd.cmdFail:error]: Tape device 3b.1: command failed, ha_status 0x9
  • Inspect your hardware to find the source of the problem. Hardware that might be defective includes the following devices
    • Host Bus Adapter (HBA)
    • Tape drive
    • The cable between HBA and tape drive
