Cannot login to ONTAP/OnCommand System Manager using local user

Issue

  • Login to ONTAP/OnCommand System Manager using a local user other than admin fails.
  • Used user name and password are correct, but authentication failure is shown.
  • The following messages are recorded in MGWD log.

ERR: PAM::PASSWD: doLocalUserAuth:src/pam/pam_passwd.cc:804 Error: <username> entry does not exist in login table. Application:   http: vserverId: 4294967295: username: <username> Authmethod: password. Reason: entry doesn't exist

ERR: PAM::PASSWD: pam_sm_authenticate: passwd comparison failed for user(<username>).

Error: PAM failed to authenticate user '<username>', application '  http', vserver 4294967295: Permission denied
