Users unable to access CIFS shares encounter STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS in 7-mode

Issue

  • Users are not able to authenticate to access shares
  • Using CIFS login tracing, the below logs are seen:
    • Mon Mar 01 19:39:01 EST [filer: Auth09: auth.trace.authenticateUser.loginTraceIP:info]: AUTH: Login attempt by user USERNAME of domain DOMAIN from client machine 1.2.3.4(hostname).
    • Mon Mar 01 19:39:01 EST [filer: Auth09: auth.trace.authenticateUser.loginRejected:info]: AUTH: Login attempt by user rejected by the domain controller with error 0x-3fffffa2: No Trusted Logon Servers Available - STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS.
  • Running cifs domaininfo shows no discovered servers
  • Running cifs resetdc discovers no servers
