Unable to mount volume using CIFS on Linux client and fails with Error "Host is Down"

Issue

  • Host is Down error observed while mounting SMB share on Linux client.

root@xxxx# mount -t cifs -o credentials=/etc/windows-credentials,vers=2.0 //10.201.xx.xx/xxxxxxx$ /test3

mount  error(112): Host is  down

Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

  • EMS logs show the following:

7/15/2020 16:54:16  cluster-01      ERROR         Nblade.noSmbVerNegotiated: For Vserver "test", Data ONTAP(R) could not negotiate with the client "10.200.10.10" because it does not support any of the SMB protocol versions that the client sent in the list "".
