PERMISSION DENIED error message on NFS mounted VOL with security style UNIX fails when using CHOWN/CHMOD as root
Applies to
ONTAP 9
Issue
- NFS root users can perform most expected operations; however, will not be able to change ownership or modify file permissions.
- Volume or qtree security style, or effective security style, is UNIX.
This does not apply when the volume or qtree uses the NTFS security type. The UNIX NFS client's inability to modify permissions or change ownership is the desired behavior for NTFS security type. |
