Replication Director: Browsing and Tape backup operations will not succeed If the source volume or backup selection is a CIFS path and owned by vFiler

Issue

If the source volume/ qtree is owned by vFiler in Data ONTAP 8.1 (7-Mode), Browse/Indexing/Tape backup operations will not succeed. This failure will be observed only for Common Internet File System protocol (CIFS) paths in the backup selection.

The following are observed:

  • When the user tries to browse a backup, the contents are not displayed in the NBU BAR GUI/Restore window

  • Tape Backup/ Advance disk backup fails
In the NetBackup logs

No error will be displayed on the NetBackup GUI. The following error will be displayed in the bpfis logs of NetBackup:

In both cases, NBUPlugin logs will display the following error messages:

2012/06/12 11:51:28: INFORMATION : 10.238.164.46: CIFS Export successful. Export path is /vol/lvol8/.snapshot/vfiler1_lvol82012_06_12_11_46_25 and share name is NBU_Share_lvol8_vfiler1_lvol82012_06_12_11_46_25
