Should the CPU Reservations on a ONTAP Select Node vm be changed?
Applies to
ONTAP Select
Answer
No
Additional Information
- When the ONTAP Select cluster nodes are created and deployed in vCenter via ONTAP Select Deploy it places a value for the CPU Reservation (expressed in MHz or GHz) and sets the Limit to Unlimited.
- If moving or vmotioning the Node to a different hypervisor, the hypervisor host must comply with the minimum Processor type.
- The reservations may need to be lowered to a less robust CPU Reservation, but if the calculations are not correct, this can potentially cause vm to become inoperable or not boot.
- Note:“You should not directly modify the configuration of an ONTAPSelect virtual machine unless directed to do so by NetApp support. A virtualmachine should only be configured and modified through the Deployadministration utility. Making changes to an ONTAP Select virtual machineoutside of the Deploy utility without assistance from NetApp support can causethe virtual machine to fail and render it unusable.
