Description

This article explains how to non-disruptively pre-load ("stage") a different version of FastPath cluster switch firmware in preparation for activation at a later time.

Often times the most challenging part of a CN1610/CN1601 firmware upgrade is just finding a working TFTP server within the environment. By staging the firmware in advance you won't be wasting time during a maintenance window troubleshooting your TFTP server or your network, and you can simply focus on activating the new firmware when the time comes.

This KB is a partial modification of the normal switch upgrade procedure and therefore is not to be considered a complete standalone switch upgrade guide. The complete upgrade instructions should always be referenced in conjunction with this KB when upgrading cluster switch firmware.
