Will vCenter added to Active Directory cause connectivity issues with SolidFire storage?
Applies to
- VMware vCenter Server Appliance
- Microsoft Active Directory
- NetApp Element OS
- NetApp SolidFire Storage Systems
- NetApp HCI Storage Systems
- NetApp Element Plugin for vCenter
Answer
- Joining VMware vCenter Server to Microsoft Active Directory will NOT impact the connectivity or integration between NetApp SolidFire storage and vCenter
- The NetApp Element Extension plugin won’t be impacted.
- Active Directory is for user authentication, and NetApp Element OS doesn’t use it for storage
- The storage protocols (iSCSI, NFS, etc.) and plugin communication will remain unchanged.
- If you wish to integrate NetApp SolidFire storage itself with LDAP/Active Directory for cluster user authentication, refer to the NetApp SolidFire User Guide, page 34.
