Applies to

  • VMware vCenter Server Appliance
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • NetApp Element OS
  • NetApp SolidFire Storage Systems
  • NetApp HCI Storage Systems
  • NetApp Element Plugin for vCenter

Answer

  • Joining VMware vCenter Server to Microsoft Active Directory will NOT impact the connectivity or integration between NetApp SolidFire storage and vCenter
  • The NetApp Element Extension plugin won’t be impacted.
  • Active Directory is for user authentication, and NetApp Element OS doesn’t use it for storage
  • The storage protocols (iSCSI, NFS, etc.) and plugin communication will remain unchanged.
  • If you wish to integrate NetApp SolidFire storage itself with LDAP/Active Directory for cluster user authentication, refer to the NetApp SolidFire User Guide, page 34.
