Issue

Multiple SolidFire volumes connected to windows SQL server are reporting performance issue

Troubleshooting Steps:

  • Analyze Volume Performance Metrics:
    • Use Active IQ to review the reported volume’s throughput, IOPS, latency, queue depth and I/O size.
    • Compare these metrics during the time of the reported issue with those from normal (non-issue) periods.
  • Check Node Hosting the Volume:
    • Identify the node hosting the primary copy of the reported volume in Active IQ.
    • Investigate whether node-level throttling occurred around the time of the issue.
  • Review Node Workload:
    • Determine the busiest volume on the same node that hosts the reported volume primaries.
    • Assess if this volume could be contributing to resource contention.
  • Follow Active IQ Recommendations:
    • Check if there are any Active IQ recommendations specific to the reported volume.
    • Ensure all suggested actions or optimizations have been implemented.
