Answer

When expanding a NetApp Element Software cluster by adding storage nodes:

  • The Element OS version needs to match between existing nodes and new nodes.
  • BIOS and firmware versions do not need to be identical, as long as the BIOS and firmware versions on the new nodes are compatible with the installed Element Software version
