  • ONTAP Select 9.5 onwards
  • vmnic (Virtual Machine NIC) upgrade
  • E1000
  • VMXNET3

Description

  • VMXNET3 vmnics provide improved performance over E1000 vmnics
  • Starting ONTAP Select 9.5 VMXNET3 vmnics is the default for any new deployment
  • For versions prior to ONTAP Select 9.5, converting to VMXNET3 vmnics are supported with the disruptive manual procedure however in some rare cases ports would fail to come up or show operationally down hence the recommendation is to first upgrade to ONTAP Select 9.5 or above.
