Description

  • This article provides an explanation, details, and recommendations to help avoid busy applications from demanding more processing power from other applications when used on the same node.
  • For example, a banking institution can use a Know Your Customer (KYC) application to collect and verify information about its customers, which is typically used to open accounts, access financial services, or comply with regulatory requirements. It helps financial institutions identify their customers and understand their risk profile to prevent money laundering, terrorism financing, and other financial crimes.
  • At the same time, another application named Anti-Money Laundering (AML) application, or AML software, is being used to help financial institutions and other regulated entities comply with AML regulations. These regulations are put in place to prevent criminals from disguising illegally obtained money as legitimate income.
  • When both of these applications, which are on dedicated volumes, reside on the same node, and one application's CPU utilization suddenly increases, this has a strong potential of creating a severe performance impact, whereas users can start to experience very sluggish user and command line interface issues.
  • A common bottleneck issue in ONTAP Select is high CPU utilization, leading to increased read and write latency. Writes use up more CPU processing than reads. This can be caused by various factors, including user workload, misconfigured Fpolicy, or issues with FlexGroup constituents. Additionally, insufficient network bandwidth, especially on the internal network for multi-node clusters, can also contribute to performance issues.
