During ONTAP upgrade AFF A800 panicked with internal components not present alert

Issue

  • During an upgrade, the following panic message was observed on an AFF-A800 system during boot:

PANIC: NVMEM must startr in battery-backed region, start: 0x4c70000000
battery-backed start: 0x5070000000

  • Errors  in the console log:

ACPI RSDP Found at 0x68238000
CPU1-P1A not present!
CPU1-P2A not present!
X49-SW-P0 not present!
X49-SW-P8 not present!
X49-SW-P8 not present!
CPU1-P3A not present!
CPU1-P3C not present!
PCI device check failed
ERROR: Platform verification failed. Autoboot will be disabled.
