Switchover Fails with  “unsynchronized log” due to incorrect MTU configuration on DWDM

Issue

fter moving a MetroCluster IP (MCC-IP) to a new site, switchover operations fail. The following errors and symptoms are observed:

  • EMS log:
    EMERGENCY monitor.globalStatus.critical: Controller failover of node1-01 is not possible: unsynchronized log.
  • Switchover simulation fails:
    Cluster1::*> metrocluster switchover -simulate true[Job 40994] Job failed: Failed to validate the node and cluster components before the switchover operation. Use the "metrocluster operation show" command to view detailed error information. Resolve the errors, then try the command again.
  • metrocluster operation show output:
    Operation: switchover-simulateState: failedErrors: Failed to validate the node and cluster components before the switchover operation.Cluster1::node1-01 (non-overridable veto): DR partner NVLog mirroring is not online. Make sure that the links between the two sites are healthy and properly configured.erlh2c5a::erlh2c5a-04 (non-overridable veto): DR partner NVLog mirroring is not online. Make sure that the links between the two sites are healthy and properly configured.
  • Additional logs:
    Wed Mar 18 10:53:21+0100 [node1-02:cf_main:cf.fsm.takeoverOfPartnerDisabled:error]: Failover monitor: takeover of node1-01 disabled (unsynchronized log).
