FCVI adapter discards frames due to c3 timeout on MetroCluster switches

Issue

  • Alerts generated (Emails, Autosupports, SNMP Traps, etc.) for the Fibre Channel Virtual Interface (FCVI) resets:

HA Group Notification from s1node1 (Reset occured on FCVI port 0f) NOTICE

  • Node event logs indicate frequent frame discards experienced by the FCVI port

[s1node1: ispfcvi2500_main1: fcvi.qlgc.received.disconnect:notice]: FC-VI adapter: Disconnect request received on port 0f. QP name = Control, QP index = 2, Remote node's system id = XXXXXXXXX.
[s1node2: ispfcvi2500_main1: fcvi.qlgc.received.disconnect:notice]: FC-VI adapter: Disconnect request received on port 0f. QP name = Control, QP index = 2, Remote node's system id = XXXXXXXXX.
[s2node1: ispfcvi2500_main1: fcvi.qlgc.received.disconnect:notice]: FC-VI adapter: Disconnect request received on port 0f. QP name = Control, QP index = 6, Remote node's system id = XXXXXXXXX.
[s2node2: ctrl_hb_port_fcvi_device_1: fcvi.qlgc.sent.disconnect:notice]: FC-VI adapter: Disconnect request sent on port 0f. QP name = Control, QP index = 2, Remote node's system id = XXXXXXXXX.

  • The supportshow outputs from the Brocade backend MetroCluster switches indicate:

1. Multiple frame timeouts.
