ATTO Bridge 7500N Not Supported for MetroCluster FC to IP Transition

Issue

During the migration from a 4-node MetroCluster FC to a 4-node MetroCluster IP, attempts to upgrade ONTAP from 9.11.1 to 9.16.1 fail. The upgrade validation process reports:


Validation could not be completed due to errors. Fix the errors, and validate again. The FibreBridge 7500N is not supported in the target ONTAP release.

  • The existing bridges are ATTO FibreBridge 7500N running firmware v3.40.
  • According to NetApp Hardware Universe (HWU), the last ONTAP version supporting this bridge/firmware is 9.14.1P15.
  • New MetroCluster IP nodes (AFF C30) are delivered with ONTAP 9.16.1 or later and cannot be downgraded.
