Answer

Yes, the same NetApp XCP catalog can be reused on another VM if the original XCP VM becomes unavailable, provided the catalog is stored on an external location (such as an NFS export) and not on the local disk of the failed VM.

When a new XCP VM is deployed and configured with:

  • The same XCP version
  • The same catalog path defined in /opt/NetApp/xFiles/xcp/xcp.ini

the existing catalog metadata can be accessed, allowing retrieval of job and index information.
