Why does used size of lun show different than used size from lun host ?

Answer

It's a expected behavior where the LUN is hosted on space guaranteed volume.
 
With SAN, the clients have got block-level access. They connect to their LUN, they format it with a file system, and it’s the hosts themselves that are directly managing the file system. As a result, the host and the storage may report the used space differently because the storage system does not have the same kind of visibility into the file system.

Additional Information

  • If LUN space reclaim enabled on storage side and is supported by the client OS, then the used size of lun show is approximately the same as the used space seen on the host.
