Issue

  • LIF is admin UP but operationally down with extended status - "FDISC error - ID could not be acquired for this virtual port"
  • The adapter hosting the LIF is online.
  • Below events are reported for the concerned adapter in EMS logs:

[DC_FAS8700-01: fct_tpd_thread_1: fcp.io.status:debug]: STIO Adapter:1b, found hung cmd:0xfffff80ec6ad47e0(state=10, flags=0x2,ctio_sent=2/2,RecvExAddr=0x1911, OX_ID=0xa18, RX_ID=0xffff,SID=0x247xx, Cmd[28],req_q_free:0[DC_FAS8700-01: fct_tpd_thread_1: scsitarget.fct.reset:notice]: Resetting Fibre Channel target adapter 1b.

  • If the port is attached to a Brocade switch, check if the Per-Port NPIV login limit (see 'NPIV PP Limit' in 'portcfgshow') is set to zero or a value too low to allow all LIFs to login.
  • If this value needs to be modified we can set the configuration for each port to Brocade defaults using "portCfgDefault " (NOTE- This overwrites all port settings).
  • Alternatively we can set the login limit specifically using "portcfgnpivport --setloginlimit
    • The NPIV limit is set to 126 for the concerned port in portcfgshow:
