Datastore went into unresponsive mode due to corruption on LUN

Issue

  • ESXi host and VMs are impacted as datastore went into non-responsive mode.
  • Snapshots are utilizing more space on the affected volume and volume utilization is 98%.
  • Volume Snapshot Reserve Space Full and 100% breached events are observed.
  • Affected volume has fractional reserve set to 100%.
  • It is recommended to set fractional reserve to 0% for thin volumes.
  • Post modifying the fractional reserve to 0% for the affected volume host is still not able to see/access any datastore.
  • Attempted to run unmap on the host end to manually trigger scsi unmaps, however the datastore is not recognized.
  • LUN and volume are showing online on Ontap end.
