Can crash dump of the windows host be saved on SAN boot lun?

Answer

No, SAN drive(boot lun) would not be accessible, when the host is down for a crash dump.

  • When the crash dump is taken on windows host we boot through the SAN LUN.
  • When booting through the LUN, LUN path would go down, i.e  the Windows Host can not find the LUN.
  • Since existing paths to the lun are not accessible,  crash dump can not be saved on the boot lun.
