Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • ONTAP S3
  • S3 bucket type: nas
  • Filesystem containing bucket: FlexGroup
  • Upload path: inside qtree
  • Quota: applied to the qtree to which uploads fail

Issue

  • When attempting to use S3Browser to upload files into a qtree, sporadic failures occur
    • S3Browser gives little info, a message of the following form:
    • InternalError: We encountered an internal error. Please try again. TaskID: <number>
  • A packet capture shows that the HTTP server returns STATUS_INTERNAL_ERROR (HTTP status code 500) in response to the HTTP PUT request
  • Upload attempts do not always fail. Therefore, repeating an upload may eventually allow it to succeed
