  • For the scenario that settings are needed to allow writing strings with surrogate pairs, as special characters like emojis and old kanji aren't supported by the 'ja_JP.PCK_v2.UTF-8' encoding of existing volumes.
  • ONTAP 9.5 and later support utfmb4 that provides support for surrogate pairs as volume language.
  • The volume language can be changed in ONTAP 9.7P1 and later.
