Why is ONTAP initializing new connections via port 111 and other ports?

Answer

  • A client is using NLM for NFSv3 locks.
  •  In such scenarios, for NLM callbacks, ONTAP has to reach back out to the client on port 111.
  • Once ONTAP identifies the NLM port, it sends the NLM work to that specific port where the client has bound locked.
