Why is ONTAP initializing new connections via port 111 and other ports?
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- NFSv3
- Network Lock Manager (NLM)
Answer
- A client is using NLM for NFSv3 locks.
- In such scenarios, for NLM callbacks, ONTAP has to reach back out to the client on port 111.
- Once ONTAP identifies the NLM port, it sends the NLM work to that specific port where the client has bound locked.
