Why does a file instantly move within the server when it is dragged and dropped onto a Quick Access shortcut in Windows Explorer

Answer

  • When a file is dragged and dropped within the same volume, the file simply moves to another directory and does not get copied.
  • In this situation, the file path changes, and no copying occurs.
  • This is a design specification, and there is no way to prevent or prohibit it.
