  • Veeam Backup & Replication

Answer

  • 3DES encryption is not supported by NetApp ONTAP for NAS protocols. Disabling 3DES on the Veeam server will not impact its integration with ONTAP.
  • ONTAP 9.13 and later versions use AES encryption as the default for Kerberos authentication, which is a more secure and modern encryption standard.
  • DES encryption, although supported by ONTAP, is considered a legacy encryption algorithm and is deprecated by Microsoft. It is recommended to disable DES encryption as well, as it is less secure compared to AES.
