Unable to see shares in MMC when accessing CIFS SVM via hostname but IP is successful

Issue

  • When attempting to view shares for an SVM via MMC, Windows reports You do not have permissions to see the list of shares for Windows clients
  • This only occurs when connecting to the SVM via hostname or FQDN
  • Connecting via hostname does not encounter this issue
  • Other users in the same administrative groups do not encounter this issue
  • A packet trace of the issue shows that the client never makes the 'NetShareEnumAll' SVCSRV call
