Issue

When Adobe Acrobat Pro is used without a license (as a Reader) on PDF files located on the file server, the following operations performed on the AFF (cache) result in the creation of a 0-byte .tmp file lacking owner and access information, which in turn prevents the deletion of the folder:

  1. Open a PDF file on the file server using Acrobat/Pro (using an unlicensed user).
  2. Add a comment.
  3. Close the PDF file.
  4. Reopen the file closed in step (3) with Acrobat Pro.
  5. In the comment, select “Add Text Annotation” and input text.
  6. Save the file.
  • When saving the file, a message prompting to save the file under a different name appears, and the file cannot be saved. The file name switches to an alphanumeric one.
  • At the same time, a 0-byte .tmp file without owner and access right information is created in the folder containing the PDF file.
  • Once this file is created, even a user with full control over the folder cannot delete the folder.
  • Performing the same operations on the CVO (Origin), other NetApp services, or locally on the client PC did not reproduce the phenomenon.
  • Furthermore, even on AFF (Cache), under a shared folder with ABE disabled, the phenomenon did not occur.
