Slow Performance and access issues on Linux client NFSv4.1 with excessive BIND_CONN_TO_SESSION calls

  • RedHat Linux 8.2 or older
  • Linux kernel versions before 5.3.18-20 or kernel-4.18.0-202.el8
  • All versions of Data ONTAP 8 or ONTAP 9

Issue

  • Slower throughput and higher application latency is seen from the Linux client
  • Issues have been seen where the client OS will report that access is denied to a path if they are unable to create the fore and backchannels.
  • Repeated behavior of attempting to bind_conn_to_session and not making progress.
