Issue

  • When using 'vi' to open a file via NFS, the operation fails with permission denied or access denied
  • Using 'echo' or certain other utilities to write into the file are still successful, seemingly proving successful write permissions
  • The volume is NTFS security style
  • A security trace returns no results
  • A packet trace shows the client never makes an attempt to open the file
