  • NFS users are unable to create directories on an NFSv3 mounted ONTAP volume with error NFS3ERR_ROFS in packet trace

V3 MKDIR Call (Reply In 194), DH: 0xxxx9632/folder1
V3 MKDIR Reply (Call In 193) Error: NFS3ERR_ROFS
  • NFS file handle 0xxxx9632 accessed by the client points to SVM root volume NOT to the data volume
  • The NFS client is not allowed root access to the SVM root volume by the export-policy assigned to the SVM root volume
