NFS group membership cache delays update when AUTH_SYS Extended Groups enabled

Issue

  • Option -auth-sys-extended-groups is enabled
  • User changes in the NIS server are not reflected when the name-service cache expires
  • NFS group membership update is delayed by about 1.5 hours
  • The nis-domain group-database rebuild minimum is set to 60 min
    • Note: Starting with ONTAP 9.10.1, the group-database rebuild minimum can be set as low as 5 minutes
