LIF on specific node cannot reach gateway because VLAN is misconfigured

Issue

  • NAS client outside the LIF's subnet cannot access or ping NAS LIFs
  • NAS LIF cannot ping client or gateway
  • LIF is on a VLAN
  • When LIF pings gateway, packet trace shows that
    • ONTAP sends ARP request broadcast for the gateway
    • ONTAP receives no ARP response
    • ONTAP sends no ping
  • After creating static ARP entry in ONTAP for the gateway, LIF still cannot ping gateway
    • Packet trace shows that
      • ONTAP sends ping
      • ONTAP receives no ARP response
  • When LIF is migrated from node1 to node2, reachability is restored
