Is there a way to avoid remounting when the backend is switched from the snapmirror source volume to destination volume

Answer

  • No there isn't
  • Snapmirror volume replication will not preserve Volume MSIDs and NFS file handles by design
  • The volume MSIDs and FIDs will be changed at the destination
  • After the snapmirror destination volume becomes writable, NFS clients that were previously accessing the source volume need to mount the destination volume to initialize a new NFS connection
