Is it possible to check the lock history of Excel files from ONTAP logs?

Answer

No , it is not possible.

  • ONTAP does not record protocol based file access information by default.
  • If SVM Auditing is enabled,  SMB requests are recorded based on SACL, but there is no option to record lock information.
  • Excel file also uses application  side lock and those lock are treated by application side, not ONTAP side.
