How and why should a netmask be changed on a LIF?
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- Networking
Description
- A misconfigured netmask value on a LIF will prevent some IP addresses from being reachable.
- The netmask is used to derive the network number / routing prefix for the interface from the LIF's IP address.
- If the configured value is incorrect, the wrong network number / prefix will be derived, which will make it impossible for some IP addresses to be reached.
- It is best to get confirmation from the network team what the correct values are before making a change.
